On the 9th of august, the Mozambican government launched an initiative, PAE, which is a measure to accelerate economic growth. which in the past years has slowed down for several reasons including the undeclared debts which culminated in the cutting of more than 750 million dollars in financial aid which was crucial to the government annual resources, the 9 cyclones and floods in a period of 4 years, the more than 850 000 dislocated citizens/refugees due to the conflict in Cabo Delgado and most recently the sanitary pandemic which affected the whole world(covid19)The above have all slowed down the Mozambican economy with more than 100 million dollars annually having to be allocated to this incidents.
To overcome the above situations the government decided to make about 20 changes in the law that will further enhance development and economic investment in Mozambique, from the reduction in tax (IVA) from 17% to 16%, simplifying the the procedure of foreign capital tax incentives to investments in key sectors in the next three years, reducing IRPC from 32% to 10%in the agriculture and urban transport investment. Another crucial point that directly affects the business development environment in Mozambique and Subsequently influences the key development sectors, would be the foreign citizen’s law so the Mozambican government also decided that Articles 17, 18 and 21 of/from decree 46/2022 published on the 16th of September have been altered/updated to further cater to foreign citizens willing to enter Mozambique to invest this decision is believed to further enhance development on crucial economic growth sectors.
